I am a little late to mention that the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the N.L. West division title and are well on their way to the 2008 playoffs. It is only their 2nd playoff appearance in 10 years. Yes, that is correct... TEN! They reached via a Wild Card berth in 2006.
This season, they look to go further into the playoffs than winning 1 game in... yeah, I don't remember when that was.
Obviously, the acquisitions of manager Joe Torre, sluggers Manny Ramirez (pictured, right), Casey Blake, and rookies Clayton Kershaw and Blake DeWitt helped out considerably.
Not only did the Dodgers advance into the playoffs... this season will mark Torre's 12th straight appearance as manager.
Congratulations to both the Dodgers and Joe Torre!
On an even lighter note... the division winning celebration was also the same day that rookie hazing took place.
I present to you... Clayton Kershaw as "Little Bo Peep"... Enjoy.
Kershaw wasn't the only rookie in the team.
Here, we have 33 yr old Hiroki Kuroda, and his Japanese interpretor, Kenji Nimura.
Pitcher Cory Wade as a belly dancer.
Blake DeWitt as Marilyn Monroe.
Let the fun continue into October!
