Safe... for work?

Good thing I have friends like Vin to always make me laugh when I mostly need it.

Enjoy.

John McCain bails out on Letterman.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain was scheduled to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday's show. Instead, McCain decided to call Letterman himself at the last minute to cancel because he had to "rush to the airport to fly to Washington to take care of the financial crisis."

That seems understandable, right? Nothing wrong with taking care of your country.

So why is Letterman so upset?

McCain didn't "rush to the airport" like he mentioned. He was caught in the studio of another CBS show getting his make-up done preparing for another interview.

Below is a 9 minute video of Letterman's show that McCain bailed out on.

And now... your 2008 N.L. Division Champs!

I am a little late to mention that the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the N.L. West division title and are well on their way to the 2008 playoffs. It is only their 2nd playoff appearance in 10 years. Yes, that is correct... TEN! They reached via a Wild Card berth in 2006.

This season, they look to go further into the playoffs than winning 1 game in... yeah, I don't remember when that was.

Obviously, the acquisitions of manager Joe Torre, sluggers Manny Ramirez (pictured, right), Casey Blake, and rookies Clayton Kershaw and Blake DeWitt helped out considerably.

Not only did the Dodgers advance into the playoffs... this season will mark Torre's 12th straight appearance as manager.

Congratulations to both the Dodgers and Joe Torre!

On an even lighter note... the division winning celebration was also the same day that rookie hazing took place.

I present to you... Clayton Kershaw as "Little Bo Peep"... Enjoy.

Kershaw wasn't the only rookie in the team.

Here, we have 33 yr old Hiroki Kuroda, and his Japanese interpretor, Kenji Nimura.

Pitcher Cory Wade as a belly dancer.

Blake DeWitt as Marilyn Monroe.

Let the fun continue into October!

Do NOT forget about your past!

As some of you may already know, the last game has been played at the historic Yankee Stadium in New York..
Yankee Stadium has been in the home for the Yankees from 1923 through 2008. That is 85 years.

There is no denying that Yankee Stadium is one of, if not, THE best known sports venue in the country. The time has come to close the doors permanently and make way for the "new" Yankee Stadium.

I myself am not a fan of the Yankees, but I can certainly respect almost everything that came from Yankee Stadium. Most notably the Babe Ruth era. Yankee Stadium was also known as "The House That Ruth Built," because of The Babe.

Many other famous players came from New York.

Lou Gehrig, who broke Babe's single season RBI record with 175 RBI's in 1927. His number would be the first ever to be retired.

Joe DiMaggio, who hit in 56 straight games. A record that is still stands to this day.

Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, all of whom where on the Yankee team that won 5 straight World Series championships from 1949 to 1953.

Even to this day, some very good players were (and still are) with the Yankees. Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite, Mariano Rivera, Roger Clemens, and Joe Torre, who was the Yankees manager from 1996-2007.

So what is this post really about? Praise about Yankee Stadium? How great the Yankees were throughout the years?

No.

During the last game ever played there, September 21, 2008, in which the Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-3, a tribute video was shown to the fans in attendance. A very heart warming and touching piece of history, I'm sure.

Something was missing. Something was not right.

Joe Torre, who led the Yankees to 4 World Series Championships, 6 American League pennants, 10 Eastern Division titles... was missing from the film.

Roger Clemens, who won his 300th game and reaches 4000 strikeouts in 2003, was also missing from the film.

Included in the video was Chuck Knoblauch, who was listed in the Mitchell Report for allegedly using performance enhancing anabolic steroids.

Why?

Even though they were not with the team anymore, I personally don't think Clemens and Torre should have been neglected in the tribute. Say what you want about Clemens, who was also accused of using anabolic steroids... but Joe Torre?

Come on!

From Fox Sports,

"Estranged former Yankee Roger Clemens was "heartbroken" when his former team left him out of Sunday night's Stadium-farewell festivities, which included a video montage honoring the Bronx Bombers' greatest pitchers - but not him, a relative told The Post yesterday.

Clemens was sitting at home in hurricane-ravaged Texas, in front of a battery-operated television on his living room couch, when the team delivered a final crushing blow to its former star.

Clutching wife Debbie's hand on one side and mother-in-law Jan Wild's on the other, Clemens tuned in to his final team's last home game hoping for some recognition for helping win two World Series titles, Wild said.

But that Rocket never launched."

For a team that prided itself with "class", they certainly showed it, or the lack of. George Steinbrenner (owner of the Yankees) should have put his differences he had with Torre aside and recognized Torre (at least) for what he was, and what he did for the Yankees.

If the Yankees had simply flashed an image of Torre on the scoreboard and detailed his achievements, it likely would have received a raucous ovation. The Yankees would have looked dignified for doing the right thing in honoring a manager who was a vital part of their Stadium’s history. Instead, the Yankees erased Torre’s name from their history, at least for Sunday night.

Like I mentioned earlier, I am not a fan of the Yankees, but I AM a fan of baseball, and to me, this is a major disappointment.

You can see the actual tribute below...

What a surprise...

You don't say... really? Wow, who would have thought.

It's so easy, easy.

I know I've been neglecting this blog for a while. I just haven't felt like writing much lately. Maybe if I set a fixed schedule, it may work better.

I need to do something about myself. I don't know what, but something. I did something today that I probably shouldn't have. I just felt in a way that I had to. I don't know. I'm not expecting an outcome of it, as I know I shouldn't. It's so easy, easy to just say to forget about it, but deep down, it's not.

On a lighter note. There are a couple of things that are going pretty well to keep me thinking positive.

The Angels clinched the A.L. West division already. It happened on September 10th, with a 4-2 victory over the Yankees. Not only that, they are obviously the first team in the majors to officially advance into the playoffs. Better yet, the Angels became the fastest team to clinch the AL West since the Oakland Athletics did it on Sept. 15, 1971.

You think I'm done? No, I'm not.

Francisco Rodriguez broke the single season Saves record by collecting #58 Saturday night, September 13th. To think he's only 26 years old, which such a milestone aready behind him. He did it by striking out Raul Ibanez with a full count. Awesome!

The previous record was held by Bobby Thigpen with 57 saves 18 years ago, witch the Chicago White Sox. With so many games left this season, it'll be hard for anyone else to break K-Rod's record after this season is over.

After today's game against the Seattle Mariners, the Angels will still have 13 games left in the season. The is plenty of time to tack on more saves this year.

Congratulations to both the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Francisco Rodriguez!

Running again...

It's been a while since I went running, so I thought it was about time I picked it up again. I didn't feel run the normal 1.5 miles I normally run. I started off lightly because I haven't been running in a while, and because I wasn't even prepared for it this morning.
I've been feeling really down lately, especially this weekend. I don't know why exactly, but you and I can guess what it may be connected to. I also received some bad news regarding a family member. I suppose it's safe to say I didn't have a good weekend. I'm still feeling the way I was then, which is why I decided to just go run this morning. It felt good good. I also did a little workout with some weights. Now, I'm eating some oatmeal with toast, and listening to Kevin and Bean, hoping I can feel a little better.

I'm still undecided how I truly want to make this blog about. My feelings? If that's the case, what'll become of my personal journal? Or maybe about what I think of current events going on? Meh, I don't think anyone cares to know what I think of... say... the the world's tallest building is getting taller.
I do know for sure I will be posting some of my pictures. That's another problem. I haven't really gone anywhere to take good photographs of anything.
What I also do know is that I really need to find out what I can do or what needs to happen for me to break out of this unhappy chapter.

For now, I'll leave you with this YouTube video. I think I will borrow Tim's idea of posting a YouTube video at the end of each post.

I don't have Verizon, but I thought this was pretty cool.
